Who are we?
We are the Ukrainian alpine ski team “Ukrainian Masters Ski Team” – which founded the charity foundation “Kozak Drive” – and this is a new stage of our volunteer activities.
What are we doing?
Since the very first days of the full-scale war on our land, we have been actively involved in helping Ukrainian refugees and the military, and at the same time began interacting with the international ski community to raise funds and introduce sanctions against skiers from Russia. We conducted practical classes on tactical medicine for medics, police, and military personnel, and participated in the purchase of necessary equipment for the military.
The captain of the Ukrainian Masters Ski Team, Tetiana Peneva, organized reception and free accommodation in Bulgaria for more than 3,000 refugees from the East and South of Ukraine, collected donations from Bulgarian citizens for the needs of our soldiers: as a result, 300 bulletproof vests and helmets were handed over to the front line. In addition to this, Tatyana coordinated the collection of funds for the purchase of professional equipment and supplies for the Kharkiv rescuers of the National Security Service of Ukraine. And, of course, we constantly kept in touch with our fellow skiers from Mariupol, Buchi, Irpen – those of them who suffered in the first month of the war, we immediately provided the necessary financial assistance.
Another direction of our work is active interaction with the professional skiing community of Europe, which allowed us to collect about 140,000 euros for the needs of the Armed Forces. The list of aid purchased with these funds includes quadcopters, thermal imagers, generators, food, medicines, etc.
No less important for us is the information front – the coach of our team, one of the representatives of Ukraine in the International Ski Federation (FIS), Ihor Lapikov, has been coordinating communication with international federations of ski athletes and instructors since February 25 – this made it possible to achieve the almost impossible – an official ban for Russian professional skiers to compete in international competitions, as well as a ban on the work of ski instructors from the aggressor country in Europe! Throughout the eleven months of the war, Ihor Lapikov continued to communicate with professional skiers and amateurs from all over the world, daily spreading information about what is really happening in Ukraine today, and what crimes the aggressor is committing on our land.
Another member of our team, Oleksandr Korneiko, a medical specialist by education, has been involved in the implementation of tactical medicine protocols in Ukraine (TCCC protocols) since 2014: Since the beginning of this full-scale war, he has resumed practical training for medics, the police, and participants in military operations.
What are our plans for the future? – Continuing volunteering in the new, expanded format of the “KOZAK Drive” Charitable Foundation, we plan to deploy support for our defenders on an even larger scale, as well as civilian victims of the aggressor, thus contributing to our joint victory over the enemy.
Glory to Ukraine!
